Innovation not taken seriously in India

Innovation are not taken seriously in India. We have lakhs and lakhs of students passing out every year and every student is supposed to make a project for completing the course. Are all the innovation recognized? This is something we should be thinking about and the colleges/Universities should start realizing the dreams.
Here is an example of not getting recognized in India:
Projects like the 'black box' system installed in cars in U.S. and UK to detect a genuine accident is also done by a group of students from Latur-based Women Polytechnic Institute in Maharashtra but was not recognized, reports Times of India.

Recently i heard that there is a contest for engineering students, All India Engineering Project Innovation Contest (AIEPIC, pronounced as eye-pic) contest like this will promote many innovations and idea from students. This contest should not be limited only to engineering students it should be open at national level. Well school students are not be left behind in innovation.

Recently Kerala government had started this contest at school level.Really amazing to see the kind of innovation these kids have.

Wish this contest is open at national level irrespective of the age limit.

Yes we have lacs of student passing out each year, but how many of them passout in a subject for which tey actually have interest in. Its also true that even if one has the interest one in a thousand think abt coming out with new ideas. Y? I believe for one we have been trained on text books. Most of the kids are stuck with only the syllabus coz we are made to believe ultimately only marks count in the longer run. Rarely are students encouraged to think out of the box. One in a thousand might do that.
If our education system and society could encourage students to take up the line that tey really hve the flair for and encourage them to think out of the box, we can expect more innovations in India.
I believe it shud be ingrilled in students right frm the start , not toward the end of the education...to encourage them to come out with ideas rather than vomiting out the already phrased sentences. I dont think just having a “project” in the syllabus every yr in a students life is gonna bring it about...coz as i mentioned b4, kids wud prefer to be safe than sorry....coz marks/grade does matter in the end....y spent all that precious time in thinking abt stuffs, we cud rather copy paste and enjoy te time until the exam...
